Damaged Parts

Originally it was my goal to have this page as a sort of a showpiece for parts broken due to performance modifications or just odd situations. If you have a pic of something broken, send it in.

This hypereutectic piston is not healthy. It experienced high boost for a few seconds without enough fuel to cover it. The damage was done in fall, and I drove around until spring before replacing it. This damage is referred to as "ring land damage". The space between the rings is particularly vulnerable to detonation, and this is what the result looks like.

This is a FelPro Head Gasket that worked fine for a few months. Small wonder the power fell off while I was driving! The failure occurred on the freeway holding cruising speed. This is yet another reason I (and others) recommend against using the FelPro gaskets. Use an MP.
