My Daytona...
Enough talk... here are the pictures:

These shots were taken the day after I got my new 87 Daytona Shelby Z, so that would be May 24, 1987. The car has about 200 miles on it in these pictures.
This car was leased May 23, 1987. The total obligation was about $26,000, and I paid $428.27/month for 48 months, then got a loan for the $8000 buyout in 91.
For the record, these wheels are called "crab" wheels. These pictures were from an instant-film type camera, which is why they're so fuzzy.
These pictures are from my photographic phase, from mid-88 to somewhere in 90. I use a Nikon FG 35mm professional camera, and developed all the negatives and prints myself.

This is my favorite picture of my car. I have a large framed copy of this hanging on the wall above my computer desk. Shot in fall of 1989

Long telephoto lens, handheld, and it was very foggy. I kind of liked the way the lens distorts the shape of the car.

Taken in the lower parking lot at the Banff Springs hotel, at the location of Bow Falls. Supposedly "world famous" locations. This is the entrance to the Banff Springs golf course, which I believe is in several of the PC golf games...
I see the Yokohamas are here and in good shape, so this was Spring of 89.

A LONG stretch of rural road, with no power lines or other obstructions. We were scouting this location for potential use in a music video.
This is smack dab in the middle of nowhere, probably 100 miles from the nearest town.

This was the day I got the Yokahama A-008's in January 1989. Notice the distinctive tread pattern. The temperature was about -30c, which is COLD. Not the best weather for Z rated rubber, believe me!

Yes, it's snowing...
The secret to winter driving is to wash your car just after it gets cold. That way, snow doesn't stick to it. Unfortunately, your doors tend to freeze shut.

Camera is on a tripod, shutter open, and I ran around with a flash illuminating whatever needed light. That's the northern lights in the sky.
I think I see Gatorbacks on the car, so this would be the winter of 88-89.
This location is about 50 miles southwest of Calgary, smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere (check a map!)

This is how snow packs into the back of a Daytona on the highway. Of course, this makes it kinda dangerous to people behind you, so the idea is to go really fast so that nobody runs into you...
Hmmm... going really fast is probably how this snow got packed in in the first place! Makes it difficult to read the license plate, too :)

You have to really love your car to go posing it like this. This is a sunset at Fish Creek Provincial Park. Fall, 1989.

Ah, a forlorn, dented, and unwashed Daytona, just before I got it back (filled with pine needles). This is the condition that the guy I sold it to had left it. It was parked here for over a year without any preparation. Sad, really.

May 4, 1998. Another section of Fish Creek Provincial Park, a few blocks from where I live.
Notice that it's shiny. I always keep it clean, even though there is body damage. There's no rust on it, so it must be working!

Looks like a magazine ad, doesn't it?

Same day. Since this shot I've replaced the passenger side headlight, fender, and hood.

This shot was taken in Creston, BC, home of Kokanee Beer, in late August of 2001. This is about 10 miles from the US border. The day this was shot we went down to Idaho and did some shopping. This was the last time I was in the US prior to September 11, 2001.
I like the way that the small amount of damage is not visible from any sort of distance. Factory paint is holding up exceptionally well (except where it was nicked, hit, keyed, etc.)

Here's the 89 Daytona Shelby that I rescued from the wrecker. I bought this car from a wrecker in summer of 1997 for $1650. It had no glass and a toasted turbo. The car had been stolen and the insurance paid out, so they dumped it at auction.
Leather interior, T-tops, every option available.
These pictures were taken in my parents' driveway, that's my dad with his camera.
This car was eventually parted and destroyed.
